Salem To Hold Webinar On Forest River Park Plans

The conception plans for upgrades to Forest River Park will be presented in a live online presentation.

SALEM, MA – The City of Salem will hold a presentation for both online and in-person audiences on the Forest River Park concept plans.

The city is trying to maximize public input by holding a free online webinar and conference call in addition to a public informational meeting on Tuesday, June 13, at 6 p.m. The in-person meeting will be held at 120 Washington St., in the third floor conference room.

To participate in the online version of the meeting, anyone with an Internet connection and Skype for Business can visit this website. You can also join the meeting by phone by calling 1-857-263-3954 and entering the conference ID 22407051.

"I am greatly looking forward to the opportunity to hear from as broad a representation of park users and Salem residents as possible," said Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll. "Forest River Park is just a jewel with so many amenities enjoyed by children, seniors, families, and so many others. Rather than simply hold a conventional public information meeting, hopefully by offering a convenient online participation component for this we can draw in feedback and input from those who may not find it as easy to get away for an evening to attend a meeting in person."

"I’m incredibly excited that this treasure of our neighborhood is getting the attention it deserves, and I’m looking forward to this," said Ward 5 City Councillor Josh Turiel, who represents the neighborhood where the park is located.

The feasibility study is reviewing all of the components of this popular City park for potential upgrades and improvements, including the pool and pool house, parking and entry area, playground, beaches and trails, Pioneer Village, and tennis courts. The study is being funded by a $20,000 Community Preservation Act grant.
