Salem Hospital Earns American Heart Association Recognition
The hospital was awarded the 2023 "Get With The Guidelines" award for the treatment of those who have suffered a stroke.

SALEM, MA — Salem Hospital recently earned national recognition for its treatment of those who suffer a stroke.
The 2023 "Get With The Guidelines" award was given with "Gold Plus" distinction — the highest level of the award given by the organization.
Salem Hospital also received the American Heart Association's Target: Type 2 Honor Roll award, which aims to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.

"Our stroke care team works so diligently to deliver safe, high-quality care to our community,” Salem Hospital President and COO Roxanne Ruppel said. "This recognition further underscores their expertise, hard work, and dedication to supporting our patients through every step of their healthcare journeys."
Stroke is the fifth-leading cause of death, and a leading cause of disability, in the United States.

Yancy of the American Heart Association’s heart failure systems of care advisory group. "Hospitals that participate in 'Get With The Guidelines' quality improvement programs often see better patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates — a win for health care systems, families and communities."
