Salem Hosts World's Biggest Ouija Board
Guinness confirmed that "Ouijazilla," which has been on display on Salem Common, trumps the previous world record for biggest Ouija board.

SALEM, MA — A Ouija board that was "the length of a brontosaurus," "heavy as an elephant," and on display on Salem Common this weekend broke the world record for biggest game board. Created by Rick "Ormortis" Schreck, vice president of the Talking Board Historical Society and a New Jersey-based tattoo artist, "Ouijazilla" was constructed from 99 sheets of hand-painted plywood and weighed more than 9,000.
At 3,168 square feet, "Ouijazilla" more than doubled the previous record of 1,302 square feet, which was set by the Grand Midway Hotel in Windber, PA in 2016. "Ouijazilla" is also fully functional, with a planchette that can be moved around the board by one or more people.
Schreck began working on the board in June 2018 after hearing about the rooftop-Ouija board the set the record in Pennsylvania. The Salem unveiling was the first time the board was fully constructed, and volunteers worked through the rain and cold to get it set up for the weekend crowds in Salem.
