Salem Police Nab Alleged Vehicle Burglar
The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:
Wednesday, June 11:
- At 4:55 p.m., police responded to a reported fight on Congress Street. Raymond L. Ward Jr., 35, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on charges of unarmed robbery and assault and battery.
- At 6:39 p.m., police responded to a past attempted break-in on Farrell Court.
- At 7:39 p.m., police responded to a report of a drunk man loitering on Lynch Street. The man was placed into protective custody.
- At 8:13 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on River Street. Robert C. Reed, 32, of 15 Putnam St., Salem, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering during the nighttime to commit a felony, larceny over $250, illegally possessing a class E substance (Gabapentin) and for violating the city's knife ordinance.
- At 9:19 p.m., police responded to a past unarmed robbery on Canal Street.
- At 10:11 p.m., police made an arrest on Cleveland Street. James W. Taubert Jr., 38, of 5 Cleveland St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
- At 7:27 a.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Osborne Street.
- At 8:56 a.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Ropes Street.
- At 9:14 a.m., police responded to a report of intimidation on Federal Street. Korey Whitehurst, 29, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on charges of intimidating a witness and violating an abuse prevention order.
- At 9:34 a.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Essex Street.
- At 2:07 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Clark Avenue.
- At 4:37 p.m., police responded to a past larceny on Leach Street.
