Salem Residents Can Go To Boston's Museum Of Science For Free
The program is part of "Salem September Days" and is funded by the Norman H. Read Charitable Trust.
SALEM, MA — Salem residents will once again have the opportunity to go to the Boston Museum of Science free of charge in September through a donation from the Norman H. Read Charitable Trust.
The promotion is part of September Salem Days, which allows for residents who show proof of residency to gain museum admission during any day remaining in September. There will also be free round-trip commuter rail service to North Station from Salem on the 9:14 a.m. departure on Sept 14 and the 10:41 a.m. departure on Sept. 28.
A limited number of $10 food voucher coupons for the Museum's Riverview Cafe are also available for Sept. 14.

Since the inception of September Salem Days in 2009, the Read Trust has funded free admission for thousands of Salem residents to the Museum of Science and the New England Aquarium, as well as to the Topsfield Fair.
"The Norman H. Read Charitable Trust funds many programs in our schools, but September Salem Days is a gift to all Salem residents," Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo said. "I hope that all residents will take advantage of this generous offer, and I look forward to the opportunity to see many community members there."

Proof of residency accepted includes a valid driver's license or a photo ID card showing a Salem address.
Read, who died in 1992 at 100 years old, made his fortune in the sciences of oil and natural gas in Texas and Alaska. Before he died, he created the trust as a means to enhance excellence in science education for all Salem residents.
Generations of his family were residents of Salem since colonial days.
