SALEM, MA — Salem Public Schools shut down the summer program at Horace Mann Laboratory School Tuesday after a bus monitor tested positive for the coronavirus.

The program was expected to resume Wednesday. Salem Public Schools contacted all the families of students who may have been in contact with the bus monitor. The school system did not release the identities of the monitor or the students, citing medical privacy rules.

"It's a very small group of kids that go to the summer school at Horace Mann," school system spokesperson Liz Polay-Wettengel told the Salem News, which first reported this story. "It's a very lightly attended program on purpose this year. We didn't want large groups."
