UPDATE: Shots Fired at Police Officers in Salem

Police reportedly searching for suspect who shot at an officer.

Salem, MA - Shots were fired at police officers on Fairfield Street in Salem shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday.

No officers were hit or injured, but according to police the suspect was still at large as of 7:15 p.m.

While attempting to take a suspect into custody, the man shot at two police officers, according to police.

A gun has been recovered from the scene, officials added.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them at 978-744-1212.

They are also advising residents to avoid the area of Fairfield Street.

A number of streets off of Lafayette had been blocked off by police.
