Six Package Store Seek Earlier Sunday Opening Under New State Law

A recent change in the Massachusetts Blue Laws now allows package stores to open at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Six Salem package stores will go before the Licensing Board on Wednesday night, seeking to extend Sunday hours under a new state law.

Highland Liquors, Nicole’s Mini Mart, Arge’s Liquors, Steve’s Market, Quality Liquors and Cosgrove Liquors have all asked to open at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

The change in the state’s so-called Blue Laws was passed by the Legislature at the end of the past session last summer. The change went in effect this past weekend, reports The Boston Globe.
