Steward I Wood Formally From Salem Passes Away Last Monday!

Steward I Wood born in Newburyport and lived in Salem Passed away last Monday May 6th, 2024 in Rhode Island.

NEWBURYPORT – Steward I. Wood, 77, of Rhode Island, formerly of Newburyport, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024.

Born and raised in Newburyport on May 28, 1946, Stu was a graduate of Newburyport High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Stu was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Wood.

Stu was a dedicated family man. He is survived by his three children: Christina and her boyfriend, Robert, and their three children; Mark and his wife, Nicole, and their son; and Michael Wood.

For many years, Stu worked as a delivery parts trucker in the machine shop industry, first in Danvers, Massachusetts, and later at North Shore Medical Center in Salem as the receiver. Stu was actively involved in his community. Prior to his illness, he was a dedicated member of the American Legion in Middleton, Massachusetts, and a volunteer with Operation Troop Support in Danvers. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Salem.

Stu will be remembered for his patriotism, his commitment to his family, and his willingness to help others.
