Summer Sailing Programs Offered by Sail Salem

Registration opens February 17 for Salem residents and March 1 for non-residents

Sail Salem is again providing Youth Summer Sailing Camps for youths ages 8 to 18. Each session runs one week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM, and is based on Winter Island with its access to Salem Harbor. The programs include onshore sailing instruction, on-the-water sailing under the guidance of certified sailing instructors, and an on-land STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Younger sailors learn in Opti sailboats while older youth sail in 420s and Sonars. These sailing camps begin the week of June 23 and extend through August 22. Tuition is $320 per one-week session with a maximum registration of two weeks per student. Financial assistance may be available based upon confirmation of financial need.

For adults who want to learn the joys of sailing but who have little to no sailing experience, Sail Salem is offering an Adult Learn-to-Sail Program in Salem Harbor. Classes are limited to 6 students per session, and will meet in the late afternoon, once a week, for 5 weeks during the summer.

Registration for these sessions opens on February 17 for Salem residents, and on March 1 for non-Salem residents. Classes are usually fully subscribed, so early registration is recommended. Program details and online registration may be found on the Sail Salem Web site, sailsalem.org. Sail Salem, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by donations and volunteers.
