Superintendent Search Seeks Parents and Community Members

There are open spots on the School Superintendent Search Committee for parents and community members. Letters are due by Monday.

The search for a new School Superintendent is getting started, with a callout for community members to be part of the Superintendent Search Committee.

In September, Dr. Stephen Russell said he will not renew his contract as superintendent this summer. THis will be his final school year on the job.

The Salem School Committee issued a request this week for letters of interest from administrators, teachers, parents and community members that would want to serve on the search committee.

The task of the search committee will be to review candidates’ applications and conduct interviews and then make
recommendations of finalists to the full School Committee.

If you are interested, send a letter of interest to Eileen Sacco at eileensacco@salemk12.org, by Monday, Nov. 24 at
3 p.m.

In addition to the search committee, community members will also be able to participate in focus groups and community meetings to get input on “key priorities and skill sets” the School Committee should be looking for in the next School Superintendent.

Russell was hired in Salem in August 2011 after serving 13 years previously as superintendent, most recently in Dartmouth.
