SWAT Team at Salem Home for Armed, Barricaded Man, Area Being Evacuated
A regional police team was outside a Meadow Street home on Saturday morning for an armed man barricaded inside.

A SWAT team was on Meadow Street in Salem on Saturday morning after a report of windows blown out at an apartment on the street, which runs off Canal Street near Salem State University’s O’Keefe Center.
The Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s SWAT team and a bomb squad were outside the home. Police had evacuated some homes in the area and those people were offered to use a SSU dorm to keep warm.
The incident started at about 7:45 a.m. with a report of explosiuons in the area. First arriving officers described the home as possibly being “booby-trapped.”

An armed man was barricaded inside the home, according to a tweet from Mayor Kimberley Driscoll. She recommended people stay away from the area.
A neighbor told WCVB-TV that windows in the home were blown out.
