Universal Steel Rezoning Meeting Scheduled for Next Week

A City Council subcommittee will discuss the proposed zoning change for the F.W. Webb project on Bridge Street.

Salem, MA - A City Council subcommittee will discuss a proposed zoning change for the former Universal Steel site on Bridge Street at a meeting on Tuesday, April 12.

F.W. Webb, a plumbing supplier located at 295 Bridge Street, has proposed buying the adjacent Universal Steel site from the city for a new warehouse/wholesale/retail/distribution facility.

The proposed use of the property would require a zoning change for the parcel.

On Tuesday night, the council's Committee on Ordinances, Licenses, and Legal Affairs will discuss the proposed zoning change from residential two-family to B4 business, wholesale, and automotive.

The committee would then make a recommendation to the full City Council.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall.
