Violinist Robert Lehmann in Concert at Salem State

Salem residents receive free admission

The Center for Creative and Performing Arts, in conjunction with the Salem State music and dance department, present Concerted Contrasts featuring violinist Robert Lehmann, on March 27 at 7:30 pm. The concert takes place in the University’s Recital Hall, 71 Loring Avenue.

Tickets are $15 general/$10 senior and free for students/under 18. Tickets will be available at the door or can be reserved by emailing tickets@salemstate.edu. This concert is also a “Salem Night”. Salem residents are admitted free with ID.

Concerted Contrasts is an evening of chamber music filled with dazzling colors and textures, performed by a variety of instrumental combinations. It features violinist Robert Lehmann. The program includes Sea of Grass and Ocean of Sky for Clarinet, Violin and Piano by American composer Edward Knight. Also on the program and written for clarinet, violin and piano trio is Bela Bartok’s Contrasts, based on Hungarian and Romanian dance melodies. The program concludes with Ernest Chausson’s Concerto for Piano, Violin and String Quartet, Op. 21, a lush composition from the late nineteenth century.

Lehmann will be joined by Chiharu Naruse, piano, Thomas Parchman, clarinet , Mia Bell D’Augelli and Tracey Jasas Hardell, violins, Kimberly Lehmann, viola, and William Rounds, cello.

Robert Lehmann is Professor of Music at the University of Southern Maine Osher School of Music where he conducts the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra and the Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his duties at USM, he is Music Director of the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra and the White Mountain Bach Festival
