Washington Street Closure Likely to Affect Tuesday Morning Commute

A portion of Washington Street in the heart of downtown Salem will be closed on Monday, Dec. 1, which could create delays for drivers in the area.

Salem city officials the closure will occur to allow for utility work. The southbound lane of Washington Street will be closed between Essex Street and Norman Street on Monday, Dec. 1 starting at 10 p.m. until early Tuesday morning.

“Some traffic delays should be anticipated in this area until about 9 a.m. on Tuesday due to this work,” city officials said in an announcement about the work.
