Woman Smashes Car With Cinder Block

The following information is an excerpt from the Salem Police log:

Friday, Oct. 7

  • At 12:42 a.m. police responded to Naples St. for a loud college party. The party was shut down for the night.
  • At 1:24 a.m. police arrested a man who was screaming and yelling in the parking lot of on Washington Street.
  • At 9:40 a.m. the owners of the reported someone had taken a banner from the building. 
  • A crossing guard on Loring Ave. reported a man frequently loitering on neighborhood lawns, wearing a leather vest and brushing his teeth while watching the children get dropped off at school.
  • The owner of a local business reported to police an employee was copying gift certificates to use as tips at local tattoo parlors. Police later responded to the store after they were called about a fight in the store. The employee came in and grabbed the fraudulent gift certificates. A shoving match began and the owner fell, striking his back against the counter.
  • At 1:57 p.m. a Front St. business reported flowers were pulled out of their flower box.
  • At 5:30 p.m. a resident of Parlee St. told police she was home when she heard her two small children scream outside. The two children told their mother they saw a man dressed in all black, with a black covering on his face, come toward them. When they screamed, the man got into a SUV driven by an older, blond woman.
  • At 6 p.m. a Swampscott Road gym called police about an out of control party. The party was upset that another patron told him to do something with the weights and he was not gym staff.
  • At 6:11 p.m. in Dunkin Donuts parking lot after he was screaming obscenities and pushing people.
  • At 10:44 p.m. police witnessed a vehicle go the wrong way down a one-way street. for driving with a suspended license. Upon inventory of the vehicle, they found two sawback bowie knives, two gun holsters and two gun cases, boxes of ammunition, a tan briefcase that was locked and a 22 caliber rifle. The owner of the vehicle did have a license to carry.

  • At 1:13 a.m. a person was after disturbing the peace at a house party on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 1:51 a.m. police responded to Dodge Street for a man with a knife in the parking lot. Police found a man with a mask with a knife in the parking lot. Witnesses told police the man had a mask on and scratched the hood of a car.
  • after police found them in Metro PCS at 1:55 a.m. Police saw someone enter the back door of the business and shut the door behind. When police went up to the door, they could hear people inside. Police knocked on the door and a man answered and told police he works there and no one else was there. Police searched the business and found three people. After police spoke to the store owners, they told police they had told the employee he could not hang out in the store after hours.
  • At 10:28 a.m. police responded to 242 Essex Street for heavy dust coming from the building due to brickwork being fixed.
  • At 11 a.m. a child was reported missing inThe child was later found.
  • At 4 p.m. police responded to Congress Street for a report of children throwing rocks from a roof.
  • At 5 p.m. a person came into the station to say they had backed up into an unmarked police vehicle in the parking lot.
  • At 6:47 p.m. a person reported her pocket book was stolen at
  • At 10:56 p.m. a man with a chainsaw was reported on Essex St. Police did not find the man.
  • At 11:37 p.m. police responded to Dow St. for a loud party. Police observed 20 teens outside a basement door. When the basement door opened, police could see a strobe light and loud music. Police entered and found 40-50 additional teens dancing and a DJ set up playing music. Police shut the party down.

Sunday, Oct. 9

  • At 12:09 a.m. females reported being assaulted by a man at . The man ran from the scene.
  • At 1:33 a.m. The address has been the scene of several college parties and disturbances.
  • Police broke up a fight in the parking lot of at 1:59 a.m.
  • At 11:37 a.m. police broke up a fight in the parking lot of Shetland Office Park.
  • At 12:14 p.m. police responded to Barr Street for a report of a woman smashing a car with a cinder block. When police arrived the woman told them she was in a fight with her boyfriend. According to police, instead of causing damage to her boyfriend's things, she decided to take out her frustration on her own vehicle.
  • At 5:26 p.m. police investigated a possible attempted arson to a home on High Street.
