'Yes, Salem We're Back!': Hocus Pocus 2 Trailer Reveals Release Date

The Sanderson Sisters will indeed return to the Witch City for a Halloween reprisal of the 1993 cult classic.

SALEM, MA — "Lock up your children! Yes, Salem we're back!"

That is the warning bellowed from Bette Midler — known to the fans of the cult classic "Hocus Pocus" as Winnifred Sanderson — to punctuate the newly revealed trailer for "Hocus Pocus 2" to be released this Halloween.

The movie will be available on Disney+ starting Sept. 30.

While the original movie from 1993 was set and filmed partly in Salem, the remake was filmed mostly on location in Rhode Island last fall.

The sequel brings back the Sanderson clan — including Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy — in the roles that made some of them infamous to the droves of fans who flock to the Witch City looking for the original "Max and Dani home" each Halloween season.

The legend of "Hocus Pocus" has grown considerably among those of a certain nostalgia-filled age group after it was originally disappointing at the box office. But the movie has become a must-watch each spooky season for many in their 20s and 30s in recent years.

"Now more than ever, people need to laugh," Director Anne Fletcher said when filming began in October. "I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing these witches back to life, and to be working with my friends at Disney again makes it all the more special.

"This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first film to the next generation of viewers."

The North Shore has been a busy center of movie-making of late with scenes from Disney's "Godmother" filmed in Marblehead, starring Isla Fisher, last year, and George Clooney setting his "The Tender Bar" in the fictional "Dickens Bar" in downtown Beverly.

Now the Sanderson Sisters will also be back running "amok, amok, amok, amok, amok" once they once again "smell children" in Salem this fall.
