Brand New Veteran-Run Brewery Burned To Ground In Rehoboth

What took the Anawan Brewing Company five years to build was burned in five hours in a fire over the weekend.

REHOBOTH, MA — A large fire destroyed a veteran-owned community brewery that had just opened in Rehoboth over the weekend.

Firefighters responded to 7 Park Street in Rehoboth just before 3 a.m. on Saturday to find the newly opened Anawan Brewing Company completely engulfed in flames, a GoFundMe set up for the brewery said.

The 60,000 square foot building that homed the brewery and taproom was deemed a total loss by Rehoboth firefighters who fought for hours to put the flames out.

The community-based brewery, which was owned and operated by veterans, had recently opened after about five years in the works, according to the brewery's Facebook.

"The brewery was not the only thing lost, the team's livelihood came to a sudden halt that Saturday morning," the GoFundMe said.
