DUI Checkpoint In Bristol County April 7

Massachusetts State Police are holding a drunk-driving checkpoint Saturday, April 7, somewhere in Bristol County.

A drunk-driving checkpoint will be held somewhere in Bristol County this weekend. Massachusetts State Police are conducting the checkpoint, which will be held the night of Saturday, April 7, and stretch into the early morning hours of the following day.

Per usual policy, the exact location and time frame of the checkpoint were not divulged.

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," State Police Superintendent Kerry Gilpin said in a statement. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."

The effort is funded with a state grant.
