Fatal I-495 Crash: 1 Killed, 1 Seriously Hurt
A man was killed and a woman was seriously hurt in a wrong-way crash in Plainville Thanksgiving morning.
PLAINVILLE, MA — A wrong-way driver was killed in a crash on Interstate 495 in Plainville Thursday morning that also seriously injured a 21-year-old Barnstable woman, police said. Police said the wrong-way driver, a Norton man, crashed head-on into the Barnstable woman on the southbound side of the highway near Exit 13 at about 2 a.m. The Norton driver had been traveling northbound in the southbound side of the highway in the moments leading up to the crash, police said.
The Barnstable woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Police said they're investigating why the Norton man was driving in the wrong direction.
