Fatal Swansea Crash On Interstate 195: Rhode Island Man Killed
Massachusetts State Police said a Rhode Island man was killed in a head-on crash in Swansea on Interstate 195.

SWANSEA, MA — A man was killed in a head-on crash in Swansea on Interstate 195 Thursday morning, police said. The deceased was identified as a 38-year-old Cranston, Rhode Island, man. Police said he was driving on the westbound side of the highway when a 40-year-old Bristol, Rhode Island, woman driving in the other direction lost control and struck him head-on. The man was trapped in his vehicle as it burst into flames and he died at the scene, police said. The man's name was withheld pending notification of family.
The crash happened at about 2 a.m. on the westbound side of the highway. The woman was driving a Volkswagen Touareg when police said she somehow lost control, crossed the median and struck the man's Jeep Liberty. The Liberty rolled over and caught fire, police said.
The woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The extent of her injuries was unclear.
