Somerset Man Killed In I-195 Crash

SOMERSET, MA — A man working under the hood of his broken down vehicle was killed when a woman drove into his pickup on I-195 Friday afternoon.

The victim, a 66-year-old Somerset man, was working on his Dodge Ram pickup, which broke down in the acceleration lane from Route 103 East onto 195 East. Around 12:15 p.m., a 60-year-old Swansea woman drove her Honda Accord into the back of the pickup, state police said.

The Accord ended up in the right and middle travel lanes; The pickup ended up in a ditch off the right side of the road.

The drivers were both transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital, where the Somerset man was pronounced dead.

The crash is being investigated.
