
Shell fishing season has begun in Swansea. The Swansea Police Department recently announced the Mount Hope Bay area is open for shellfishing.
"Another year has gone by and despite another wet season and a few violations, we have continued to see a prosperous shell-fishing program," said shellfish warden Sgt. Daniel Lowney in a release.
Residents can click here to apply for licenses or to see the rules and regulations. Further openings will be posted on the website.

Swansea police remind residents that ignorance of the shellfishing laws is not an excuse and violations will be penalized to the maximum.
