Community Rallies After Menorah On Shrewsbury Green Destroyed

The menorah on the town green was destroyed likely by a weather event. The community is raising money to replace it.

SHREWSBURY, MA — After a menorah on the town common in Shrewsbury was destroyed, likely due to recent storms, the community is rallying to purchase a new menorah.

Shmuel Fogelman organized a fundraiser on behalf of Chabad of Shrewsbury and UMASS Medical School Inc.

The GoFundMe page reads: "Unfortunately the Menorah on the Common was wrecked last night, most likely the result of the wind storm, Shrewsbury PD are working to confirm that the damage was from the wind. Chanukah is the holiday of triumph over adversity especially when the odds are stacked against us, to that end it’s only Halftime of Chanukah, day 4 of 8, it would be wonderful if we could come together as a community to purchase a new stronger menorah for the town common."
