Lake Quinsigamond Park In Shrewsbury Reopens After E. Coli Alert

The park on the north side of Lake Quinsigamond closed about two weeks ago.

SHREWSBURY, MA — The water near Shrewsbury's Gauch Park is safe following an E. coli alert nearly two weeks ago.

The Worcester Division of Public Health on June 18 found elevated levels of the potentially harmful bacteria during routine testing. That prompted a warning to locals and their pets to stay away from the water, including fishing.

By Thursday morning, tests showed that E. coli levels had receded to acceptable levels, according to the Division of Public Health.
