Shrewsbury 2023 Election Results: See Who's Ahead

SHREWSBURY, MA — The Shrewsbury Town Clerk has released unofficial results from the 2023 spring election that took place Tuesday.

The 2022 election featured three competitive races, with five candidates vying for a two select board seats, three candidates running for two Shrewsbury School Committee seats and a two-person race for a seat on the housing authority.

In the select board race, first-time candidate Carlos Garcia made history after becoming the first LGBTQ and first person of color to win a seat on the board. Garcia is poised to pick up the seat being vacated by Maurice DePalo, who served on the select board for 30 years.

The election saw about 15 percent turnout, with 3,777 of Shrewsbury's 25,553 voters casting a ballot on Tuesday.
