Shrewsbury Is Bringing Back The Plastic Bag Reduction Bylaw

The bylaw was temporarily suspended due to concerns about the coronavirus.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury is bringing back its Plastic Bag Reduction bylaw.

The bylaw was introduced on July 1, 2017 to reduce the plastic bags used by shops and grocery stores. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Charlie Baker had temporarily "lifted" the ban as part of the order.

As of July 10, 2020, the Governor rescinded the order and municipalities that had a previous plastic ban in place, may now enforce it again.
