Shrewsbury Girl Scouts Place Flags On Graves For Memorial Day

The town may not to have its traditional parade this year, but these girls are honoring service men and women in a different way.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A group of Shrewsbury Girl Scouts are determined to honor veterans and those who served our country this Memorial Day. The girls helped the Parks Department place flags on the graves at Mountain View cemetery on Wednesday.

Memorial Day will look quite different in town this year with the parade canceled due to the coronavirus. In place of traditional events, the town is producing a prerecorded Memorial Day program to honor the fallen.

"Please understand that we hope everyone will spend Memorial Day at home safely, while keeping in their thoughts the many service members who lost their lives in service to our great nation," said Justin Sousa, Director of Shrewsbury's Office of Veteran's Services.
