Shrewsbury Motorists Can Expect Delays on Route 140, I-290

Overnight paving will be done on the Route 140 Bridge through the week.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Expect delays this week as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is paving the Route 140 Bridge over I-290.

Overnight paving will continue from 8 p.m. tonight till 5 a.m. each morning through Friday, Sept. 24, at 5 a.m. on Route 140 Northbound and Southbound over I-290 in Shrewsbury.

During the work, traffic on Route 140 will be reduced to one alternating travel lane. Additionally, the I-290 exit 26 A/B (Route 140) eastbound and westbound off-ramps will be closed, and traffic will be directed to follow the detour signs in place and use exit 27 (Church Street) or exit 25 (Main Street).

Appropriate signs, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Motorists are to follow the posted detour signs, reduce their speed, and use caution when traveling through the affected areas.

Only one ramp at a time will be closed during the paving operations. The schedule is weather permitting and may change without notice.
