SHREWSBURY, MA - The Shrewsbury Police Department announced that a group of home invasion suspects who broke into a Park Grove Lane residence earlier in the month were charged with help from the SafeCam Program.

Recently adopted, the program encourages Shrewsbury residents to register locations of video surveillance systems in private homes. This does not give the Shrewsbury Police Department access to video feeds. It informs them of the location of cameras in case a crime occurs nearby.

In this case, homeowners returned to their place on Park Grove Lane and found their back door forced open. Officers tracked the suspects to a nearby cul-de-sac and figured they left in a vehicle. Thanks to the SafeCam Program, they were able to obtain glimpses of the suspects getting into a car and leaving the scene.
