St. Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church Member Dies

Malki Naoum Yousef, 69, of Worcester died on Friday.

Malki Naoum Yousef, 69, of Worcester, died on Friday, May 4 at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale surrounded by his loving family.

Malki is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mona (Yousef) Yousef; four sons, Emad “Joe” Yousef and his wife Vivian, Fadi Yousef, Charbal Yousef and Michael Yousef and his fiancee Stephanie Cristo all of Worcester; a daughter, Roula Besada and her husband Ashraf of Shrewsbury; three brothers, George Yousef of Dudley, Joseph Chalino of Worcester and Dr. Jibrayel Yousef of Harvard, MA; a sister, Georgette Abdelmasih Nasri of Sweden; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Malki was born in Hassake, Syria, a son of the late Naoum and Jamileh (Goulo) Chalino. He lived in Lebanon until he moved to Worcester in 1982. Malki owned and operated Mike’s Middle East Market on Hamilton Street in Worcester for 28 years before retiring in 2008. He was a dedicated and active member of St. Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church in Shrewsbury.

Services for Malki will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
