Man Indicted In Fatal Shooting Of Shrewsbury Father At Jordan Pond

A jury handed up indictments for murder and other charges against Snehal Srivastava.

SHREWSBURY, MA — The man accused of fatally shooting a Shrewsbury father at Jordan Pond in August was indicted Wednesday, according to the Worcester County District Attorney.

Officials said Kevin Doherty, 56, had just dropped off his 6-year-old son at Calvin Coolidge Elementary School when he confronted Snehal Srivastava, 26, who was spray-painting the bridge, and an altercation ensued.

Doherty called the police, but as the 911 call was being recorded, gunshots were heard.

By the time officers arrived, Doherty had several gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he died. Srivastava fled the scene, but he was later located and arrested at a nearby home, officials said.

In addition to the murder charge, Srivastava was also indicted on one count of intimidation of a witness, one count of possession of a firearm not at home/work, and one count of vandalism.

He was arraigned in Worcester County Superior Court on Thursday and held without bail. The case is next scheduled for Jan. 8, 2026.
