Warmer Shrewsbury Weather May Last Through March: NWS

SHREWSBURY, MA — Tuesday's 60-degree temperatures may just be a warm-up for things to come.

The region will reach (or come very close to) 70 degrees on Friday, a nearly 30-degree deviation from the standard mid-40s March temperatures. Between then and now, temperatures will remain near 60.

The National Weather Service's long-range forecast sees a continuing warming trend at least through the end of March.

The Climate Prediction Center issued a 14-day temperature outlook on Monday showing a 60 percent chance of above-normal temperatures for all of southern New England through March 28. Evening things out, the long-range forecast also sees a 50 percent chance of higher-than-normal precipitation across the region.

Here's a look at the forecast for the rest of the week from the weather service:

Wednesday: Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 59. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. South wind 3 to 5 mph.

Thursday: A chance of rain, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday Night: A chance of rain, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Friday Night: Rain likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Saturday: Rain. High near 53. East wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Saturday Night: Rain likely, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 51. West wind 8 to 14 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. West wind around 9 mph.
