Water Emergency In Shrewsbury: Town Asks Residents To Conserve
Shrewsbury will use water from Worcester as an emergency measure, but it's unclear for how long.
SHREWSBURY, MA — Town officials are asking residents to conserve water after a well pump failed at a main source of drinking water.
Shrewsbury will connect to the Worcester of water supply on Thursday as a temporary measure while the well pump gets fixed, the town said. The connection may cause discolored water for residents and businesses along Route 20 near the Worcester line, the town said.
It's unclear when the well pump will be fixed.

"We are working with the vendor to expedite the replacement of the well motor. The town will continue to provide updates regarding this water conservation request," the town said in a bulletin Wednesday.
In the interim, the town is asking residents to take conservation steps like avoiding outdoor watering, washing only full loads of laundry and dishes and to turn water off while doing activities like shaving and brushing teeth.
