Apartment Project Causes Controversy In Somerville: Report
Community members have strong opinions both for and against the potential Davis Square addition.
SOMERVILLE, MA—Anonymous flyers supporting and opposing the development of a 25-story apartment complex in Davis Square are circulating throughout Somerville, according to a report from NBC 10 Boston.
The potential structure would be implemented on Elm Street, and include 500 apartment units. According to residents, the first flyers were manually delivered to mailboxes, and included a rendering of the building with the phrase “Do we really want something like this in Davis Square?” The second flyer responded to the first flyer’s question with the answer “Yes.” In addition, it argued that the development would help grow business and provide housing.
The project is being spearheaded by Copper Mill, and they said construction will not commence until after 2025.
