New Korean Fried Chicken Spot Arrives In Somerville After 5 Months
K-Bok Korean Fried Chicken opened its first location where a long-tenured Mexican restaurant once stood.
SOMERVILLE, MA — After five months, a new fried chicken restaurant finally opened its doors in Union Square.
K-Bok Korean Fried Chicken held its grand opening earlier this month at its new location on 249 Washington St. The arrival of the restaurant was first announced in July when a sign appeared on the awning of the then-vacant property. The spot was previously home to La Cantina Mexicana, until it closed its doors in September 2023. The Mexican restaurant was owned and operated by the Rendón family for 28 years before shutting down.
K-Bok is the first location of its kind. Its menu features three main flavors of chicken: original crispy, spicy yangnyeom and soy garlic bliss with both bone-in and boneless options. The restaurant also serves liquor, offering authentic Korean cocktails.
