Pizza Event Sliced Into 7 Parts Throughout Somerville

The multi-week event is meant to connect local government with their constituents.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The second annual “Slice of the City” events kick off on Thursday, May 1.

Each of the city’s seven wards has its night in which Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and members of the City Council host gatherings catered with pizza. The purpose for the complimentary events is to connect residents with city leadership.

The event kicks off with a gathering for Ward 1 residents at Chuckie Harris Playground on Cross Street East. The event will pick back up on Monday, May 5 in Ward 4 at the Healey Schoolyard on Meacham Street. The following day of Tuesday, May 6, Ward 5 residents can come to the Trum Field Playground on Franey Road. After a six-day hiatus, Slice of the City will resume in Ward 3 at Prospect Hill Park on Munroe Street on Monday, May 12. For Ward 6, the event will go to Powdershouse Park at the corner of Broadway and College Avenue on Tuesday, May 13. The event wraps up with a Ward 7 gathering at Lou Ann David Park on Broadway and a Ward 2 gathering at Lincoln Park on Washington Street on May 20 and May 21 respectively.

Each of the seven subevents take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In addition to pizza, refreshments will also be served and activities for children will be available.
