Sharp Object Disposal Just Got Easier In Somervile
The kiosk is reportedly the first of its kind.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The city implemented an outdoor sharps disposal kiosk earlier this month.
The kiosk is meant for safe disposal of objects such as needles, razors, syringes, lancets, and other sharp objects. It is located at Seven Hills Park behind the Davis Square Red Line MBTA station near Meacham road, to be accessible by car, foot, and train. According to the city, it is the nation’s first outdoor dual disposal kiosk, as it accepts both containers and individual objects.
“This kiosk provides a critical resource for safe sharps disposal in a high-traffic, accessible location,” Director of Health and Human Services Karin Carroll said. “We encourage community members to use this resource responsibly and help keep Somerville clean and safe.”
