Somerville Institution Holds 30th Anniversary Party

The oldest community access center in the state celebrates a milestone.

Somerville Community Access Television, SCATV, celebrates its 30th anniversary Thursday with a party.

Founded in 1983, SCATV is the oldest community access center in Massachusetts and served as a model for access stations across the country, according to SCATV's website.

The television station produces public affairs shows, public service announcements, political forums and arts programs, among other things. It also operates Boston Free Radio.

Thursday's party takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the SCATV building, 90 Union Square. Everyone who's participated in SCATV projects over the past 30 years is invited.
