Join The Discussion About Major Somerville Construction Project

The Tufts Street Reconstruction Project is part of the larger Citywide Pavement and Sidewalk Management Program.

SOMERVILLE, MA — City leaders are hosting an upcoming public forum about construction at Tufts Street on Wednesday, May 14.

Last December, the city announced it had completed the design phase of the Tufts Street Reconstruction Project. The repairs are slated to feature raised crosswalks that cross Tufts Street at Glen, Dell, and Cross Streets, “pinch points” that narrow the street to naturally calm down traffic level and speed for pedestrians, two-way ability for both vehicles and bicycles, four multipurpose parking spaces, wider sidewalks, and the removal of 21 trees.

The virtual meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and last approximately 90 minutes. Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, City Councilor Matthew McLaughlin, and members of the Somerville Engineering Division are scheduled to be in attendance.
