The event is meant to remember both survivors and people who have lost their lives to the crime.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The city’s annual Domestic Violence Vigil is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The event will take place at Somernova business park on 19 Prozperi Way beginning at 6 p.m. The main objective of the vigil led by Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, the Somerville Commission for Women, RESPOND, Inc., and the Department of Racial and Social Justice is to recognize and remember the people who died as a result of domestic violence in the past year as well as the strength of survivors. Attendees will be asked to raise a candle as part of the proceedings.
