Somerville Schools Cancel Outdoor Activities As Manhunt Continues

Police, FBI are seeking a Cambridge bank robbery suspected they believe could be escaped, potentially dangerous fugitive James Morales.

Somerville schools are canceling recess and other outdoor activities as a precautionary measure Thursday, as the search for a would-be bank robber and likely fugitive continues in the area, multiple reports confirm.

A reported morning bank robbery in Cambridge has morphed into an all-out manhunt Thursday afternoon, as officials suggest the robbery suspect could be James Morales, a wanted man who escaped from a Rhode Island detention center last weekend.

Most recently, police have reportedly been combing the area around the Alewife T station, as their search continues.

The cancellation of outdoor activities at Somerville schools is merely a precaution, according to a notice circulated by the city Thursday. Subsequent news reports confirm the cancellation.
