SOMERVILLE, MA — More than 200 people came together outside the Somerville Library’s East Branch this past Saturday to demonstrate support for immigrants in response to President Donald Trump’s efforts to conduct large-scale deportations throughout the country.

The event was organized and attended by representatives from multiple local organizations, including Somerville for Palestine, Mutual Aid Medford and Somerville, Community Action Agency of Somerville, Somerville Educators Union, and more. According to Somerville for Palestine organizer Leilia Skinner, attendees vocalized their support for immigrants in Somerville, with some sharing their own immigration stories.

“In these times of uncertainty, it's easy to become overwhelmed with fear, but as my mom told me, always look for the helpers,” a Palestinian resident and child of refugees said at the event. “In every trying time, in every moment of need, look around and you will find people who will help, support, protect, and stand by you, with you, and for you.”
