Somerville YMCA Slated For Major Overhaul: Report
The leaders of the Somerville location are working to replace the existing building.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Leaders of the Somerville YMCA on 101 Highland Ave. are looking to build an all-new facility to replace the current 120-year-old building, according to a report from CBS News.
The Association hopes to construct a new building worth between $150 and $200 million. Somerville YMCA President and CEO Vladimir Benoit estimates a 24 to 30 month construction period to build what he describes as a “community campus.” He and his peers are currently working with the city to acquire all the necessary permits.
