Somerville's Bid to Break Guinness World Record Falls Short

Hundreds of dog owners gathered at Trum Field in Somerville on Sunday afternoon in an effort to crack one of the more obscure Guinness world records: most people brushing their dogs’ teeth at once.
The world record of 268, set by a 2012 gathering in Hong Kong, still stands as of Monday morning.
Sunday’s festival fell short by just 39 dogs as 229 in total were on hand to get their teeth brushed simultaneously.
Event organizers attribute the shortfall to rainy conditions.
Dozens of volunteers were on hand to oversee the brushing, among several other activities.
