T-Storms Possibly to Roll Through Somerville

Thunderstorms could roll through Somerville early Tuesday morning as heavy rain continues to drench the region.

Steady rain Monday afternoon will slow to a drizzle at night. Heavy rain may return after 1 a.m., with a chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

If a thunderstorm occurs, it will be the first thunderstorm of spring in New England following an extremely rare “ thundersnow” event in eastern Massachusetts in February.

Here’s the forecast for the region for the next few days:

  • Monday: Rain. 12-17 mph winds. Possible thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Low of 48 degrees.
  • Tuesday: Rain and before 1 p.m., with 5 to 14 mph winds. Things calm down at night. High 64, low 45.
  • Wednesday: Rain likely. High 62, low 44.
  • Thursday: Partly sunny. High 54, low 39.
