UPDATE: Fire Erupts On Gordon Street

A nearby contractor rescued a resident from the first floor of the building, says the Somerville Fire Department.

The Somerville Fire Department arrived at the scene of 17 Gordon St. to a find a first-floor bedroom “engulfed in flames,” around 1 p.m. Monday, according to their statement. Suffice to say, smoke had filled the entire building by that point.

A first-floor resident was pulled from the blaze by a contractor working on an adjacent building, and both were transported to the hospital, according to Somerville Fire.

Damage to the property is estimated at $100,000, all occupants have been displaced, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
