Vacant Somerville Building Heavily Damaged In Fire

Five firefighters sustained minor injuries battling the blaze early Wednesday.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A vacant two-family home in Somerville was heavily damaged by a fire overnight. The fire was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Webster Avenue, Fire Chief Charles Breen said.

Five firefighters sustained minor injuries battling the fire, which had spread to all floors of the vacant, boarded up home. The building has been vacant for several years, Breen said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
