Stoneham's China Moon Closing After 60+ Years
A longtime Chinese restaurant in Stoneham is closing.
China Moon will shut down around mid-December, as the owners plan to sell the property, according to multiple sources cited by Boston Restaurant Talk.

The restaurant has been in the same family for three generations. It first opened in 1953, serving Chinese-American cuisine, Polynesian drinks and a variety of sushi rolls and shareable platters.

Melrose Surpasses 3 Percent Positive Test Rate As Surge Continues
Coronavirus metrics released the day after Thanksgiving indicate the virus is showing no signs of slowing in Melrose. The city's positive test rate is now at 3.15 percent, the first time it's been over 3 percent during the pandemic. The average daily incidence rate per 100,000 residents is also hitting new highs, sitting at 30.3.
Malden Installing Dozens Of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
The city will install 22 electric vehicle charging stations at five locations across Malden. The city's Energy Efficiency Commission worked with National Grid and Public Facilities Director Eric Rubin to obtain incentives to install the stations, which will provide residents and visitors with ample opportunities to charge their vehicles.
Elizabeth Homan Selected As Arlington's Next Superintendent
The School Committee voted last week to name Elizabeth Homan the next superintendent of the Arlington Public Schools. The vote was 6-1, with School Committee member Paul Schlichtman opposed. Homan is currently in her third year as assistant superintendent in Waltham. She is expected to assume her new role in July, succeeding retiring superintendent Kathleen Bodie.
Assembly Row Reimagines 2020 Holiday Activities
Assembly Row announced plans for activities aimed to make the holiday season more convenient and festive, while maintaining appropriate safety measures during the pandemic. A new "Deck The Cause" display of decorated holiday trees brings six local non-profits onto the property to share their message and raise funds, while throughout the neighborhood visitors will find varied outdoor seating options, including dining igloos and expanded patios for shopping pauses, coffee breaks and holiday dining.
The city implemented its new "Drive 25" ordinance last week after it was approved by the City Council. That means the default speed limit citywide will be 25 mph, unless otherwise posted. The city is reducing its speed limit to 25 mph to make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists and help reduce traffic accidents. Driving at or below 25 mph improves motorists' ability to avoid crashes and reduces fatalities, city officials said.
MelroseWakefield Hospital is bringing back restrictions on visitors amid a renewed surge of COVID-19. The hospital's updated visitor policy will take effect Dec. 1.
"We continue to take numerous safety precautions to keep patients, families and staff safe during the pandemic," MelroseWakefield Healthcare said. "We understand the importance for both the patient and loved one to be able to visit a patient while in the hospital; however, we have made the difficult decision to again place restrictions on visitation as an added safety measure."
