5 Die In MA Traffic Crashes In One Day: State Police
The five separate incidents happened in different towns Wednesday, and two involved motorcyclists.
STOUGHTON, MA — Five people died in separate car crash across Massachusetts Wednesday, including two crashes involving motorcyclists, state police have reported.
The two motorcyclist deaths happened in Amesbury and Newburyport. Drivers died Wednesday in crashes in Stoughton, Leominster and Falmouth, state police said.
The Leominster crash happened along Lancaster Street, forcing local police to close the road for several hours. The crash in Falmouth left an 80-year-old woman dead after a moped she was riding on collided with an SUV along Route 28A.

According to state police, motorcyclist Kruise Herring Delgado, 34, of Lowell, died along I-495 in Amesbury Wednesday when he tried to squeeze between a Tesla and semitrailer.
"The Yamaha possibly struck the rear of the trailer being pulled by the tractor cab and then impacted the driver’s side of the Tesla. The motorcycle then overturned, with the operator being dislodged and the bike sliding off the roadway into the grass median," state police said.

Daniel Mena, 21, of Lynn, died along I-95 in Newburyport Wednesday. He crashed after a driver swerved into him, causing him to fall off the bike. Another driver then hit him, state police said.
In Stoughton, Suzete Mendes, 37, of Hyannis, died at Good Samaritan Hospital after she drove off Route 24 and flipped her SUV.
"Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Infiniti Q40 was northbound in the right lane when, for reasons still under investigation, it went off the right side of the road, entered the grass shoulder, hit a guardrail and rolled over," state police said.
State police are investigating the crashes in Amesbury, Stoughton and Newburyport, and are assisting local police with the crashes in Falmouth and Leominster.
Police departments across Massachusetts are in a period of increased traffic enforcement surrounding the Labor Day holiday.
